Learning Activity

Mother Goose Family Child Care is putting together a Family Manual for Parents. Please place a check mark in the box in front of items that you think should be included.

(Wrong item: a list of neighbors. Unless your neighbors who have children who will have regular contact with your family child care children, it is not necessary to supply parents with this type of information.)

Writing Activity

One of the most important things you include in your parent manual is a description of your philosophy about caring for children and supporting their development.

1. Think about your practices and write down your ideas. Write down the first words you think of. Pre-writing activities may help you start writing.
2. Organize your ideas and write a paragraph, describing your philosophy about child care. Use a word processing program and save the file onto a disk
3. Share the paragraph with your tutor.
