The Learning Ladder
A Reading and Writing Curriculum for Early Care and Education Teachers, Children and Families
|
Writing Activity
Circle time is sometimes difficult for children and teachers. Some children have trouble sitting and listening, and some teachers find it difficult to create activities that invite children to participate.
- Ask your classroom team member to take the lead and run the circle or meeting time.
- You will be the observer. Pay particular attention to children who are having difficulty listening or participating. Take notes while you are watching.
- Then, open your word processor and describe what happened during the activity. For example, "Charlie was singing a lot in today's circle. He clapped and sang along. Then when we changed activities to take turns with the weather chart, he began to move around and bumped into the child sitting next to him."
- Save it in your
disk portfolio.
You will need it later.
