The writing area in your classroom should have a variety of materials that support the children's emergent literacy skills. These materials can be divided into the following categories:

Writing Tools: the things that children use to write or draw with.
Other Writing Materials: other things that children can use to support their writing or drawing.
Writing Surfaces: the things that children write or draw upon.

For each of the groups of items below, pick the category that best represents them.
